Work Based Learning

I this WBL we were informed about a internship program called futures and options, which have students the opportunity to hone their skills at what they want to do in the future. There was a speaker that was an employer for the program and he explained all the benefits of it and why it’s a great internship. Although this is a great chance for experience they also offer support for making better resumes and it’s a paid internship making it even more appealing for students. Furthermore this program is only available for rising seniors and current seniors. Opportunities like these are a great way to have an advantage against other students and applying for colleges since it would look impressive that you had an internship.

Lab 4

In lab 4 we had to create an html page using JavaScript that would add an element after an on click event. Also there had to be an image of a ninja included and 3 buttons giving the options of kick, punch, and dodge. For the kuck button we had to give it a value and with the JavaScript it would give a random number between the two numbers you assigned it. Furthermore, we used code such as getElementByid, outerHTML, and give functions to certain ids. In addition, adding css helped make the html look more appealing and complex. For the JavaScript we also had to give the ninja a variable for his age, gender and birthday. This lab helped us learn more about ow to manipulate html elements and attributes which enhances our skills as a web developer.

Lab 3

Lab 3 was about learning more about Jquery and javascript in given links and then translating was we learned to a html page. The content we learned helped us understand how to use Jquery in a more efficient and productive way so that it could our webpages more responsive. One of the exercises was to type a color into a text input an with the Jquery it would change the name of the current color on the title. Furthermore, Jqeruy makes it easier for us to work with when it come to animations, html manipulation, event handler that is works across several browsers. This lab helped us make/ learn how to make more responsive websites so that it impresses more people to use and simpler.

Lab 2

In lab 2 we practiced using Jquery, we had to create a introduction page with an image of ourselves, give a brief description about us. The Jquery we had to include is a alert, prompt, confirm, document.getElementbyID and button function. It had to ask you questions when you opened the page and would give certain responses, then it would show the image and paragraph about ourselves. In addition, we included css so that it doesn't look too plain or boring, it also fixed some positioning issues because sometimes the placement doesn't align with the rest of the content. This lab helped us review about Jquery, css and html after a long 2018 summer vacation.

Lab 1

Lab 1 was about creating/ updating our homepage website from last year, digital design. I have drastically updated since last year as this index has less white space and it's a lot more functional on other devices. I added a navigation bar that is transparent to the background so that there would be a image covering the screen so that it looks clean and neat. Also on the nav bar I added a drop down menu with the link to my previous homepage and my current labs completed. The side bar was customized with materialized css so that it look nicer and I added breaks for separation between different assignments. Furthermore i added a media query so that when the page ever reaches a certain size it will have an alternate layout.

My name is jason jerez and I am 17 years old. I'm currently attending ITHS and part of the CTE Web Design Academy. I chose the Web Design Academy because I wanted to learn how to create websites and how to code. Technology is becoming the future for jobs so that's another reason why I chose it, so that i could have a better chance for having long-term job. During my last 2 years I've learned how to use photoshop, code, dreamweaver, inDesign and set up servers, use HTML and CSS. What I hope to learn this year is Java and javascript so that I can enhance my skills as a web developer and create more responsive websites. What I hope to do in the future is something i'm still figuring out as of now
